JPH Launches “We Believe” Capital Campaign to Meet Growing Demand for South Shore Mental Health & Wellness

$5 million “We Believe” campaign to support critical facility and program enhancements for rapidly growing Marshfield nonprofit

MARSHFIELD, MA (February 10, 2026) The James P. Harrington Organization (JPH) today announced the public launch of its “We Believe” Capital Campaign, a five-year, $5 million initiative designed to expand access to holistic mental health and wellness programs while preserving JPH’s long-term impact across the South Shore.

The campaign will fund critical infrastructure improvements to JPH’s historic Ferry Hill campus in Marshfield and support the growing demand for wellness programs, retreats, and community-based events.

Quietly launched in early 2024, the “We Believe” campaign has already raised more than $1 million, reflecting strong early support from donors who believe deeply in JPH’s mission and the power of community-driven healing. To date, JPH’s expanding local footprint has helped serve thousands of adults, children, and families through accessible mental health and wellness services, including:

  • 10,000 adult program seats provided

  • 4,500 youth program seats provided

  • $277,000 invested in Ferry Hill campus revitalization and upgrades

  • A record volunteer network of more than 300 community members and growing

“The public launch of our ‘We Believe’ campaign is about more than buildings, it’s about deepening our promise to be here for those who need us most,” said Beth Winn, Development Director at JPH. “It’s rare for foundation leaders to not only give but also volunteer to help fundraise beyond their philanthropic commitments. In this case, the shared belief that JPH should be funded and sustained is what drives our philanthropy team, and that kind of leadership is both humbling and powerful.”

As demand continues to grow for holistic mental health services not typically covered by insurance such as therapeutic arts, mindfulness-based coping strategies, sound healing, and integrative wellness offerings, the “We Believe” campaign represents a critical step towards building long-term capacity, sustainability, and equity in care.

Karen McArdle of the Emilson Family Foundation, a lead champion of the campaign, added:

“Mental health support is critically important. Ask any family, and you’ll find that every one of them has faced challenges in this area. Something has to be done. We called this campaign ‘We Believe’ because we do, we believe in the power of healing, the strength of community, and the possibility of lasting change. My family supports this mission because it’s personal to us. We’ve seen firsthand how vital it is to have a place like JPH, and we want to help ensure it’s here for others who need it.”

The JPH Center at Ferry Hill provides low- and no-cost holistic programs facilitated by licensed professionals and experienced practitioners. The center offers serene, retreat-like spaces where individuals and families can focus on mental well-being without distraction. Opportunities for volunteerism, group workshops, and collaborative programming help strengthen community connections, reflecting JPH’s belief that connection itself is a form of wellness.
